GEK Continues to Serve Injured Workers During the Pandemic
Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the wheels of justice for injured workers continue to turn…just a little differently. We at Gordon, Edelstein, Krepack, Grant, Felton & Goldstein, LLP (GEK) remain fully operational as our entire staff is working remotely.
We continue to represent injured workers with new claims and use the best technology has to offer to keep our new and current clients' cases moving through California's Workers' Compensation system.
Presently, there are no personal appearances (by either attorneys or clients) at the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board. All status and mandatory settlement conferences are conducted telephonically, as is the case with expedited hearings. Trials are being continued to new dates in the future.
In terms of doctors' depositions, GEK is making every effort to move forward with them telephonically or via video conferences. Client depositions will be handled on a case-by-case basis through teleconferencing, videoconferencing, or in some instances, if all parties agree, in person at defense attorneys' offices, strictly following the social distancing guidelines.
"We are trying our best during these difficult times to continue to provide the best legal representation for our clients while trying to avoid undue delays," says GEK Partner Richard Felton. "We will keep striving to meet and adjust to the challenges that arise in order to successfully fight for the rights of injured workers."
