Craftsmanship and Gratitude: A Special Gift for GEKLAW
The GEKLAW team was humbled and touched to receive a heartfelt gift of appreciation from our client, Sergeant Rene Sapien: a breathtakingly beautiful, handcrafted clock made by his brother, a retired special forces United States Marine. The obvious craftsmanship in this piece and the stunning oil-on-glass painting highlighting Rene's rookie photograph and years on the job reflect the tireless work performed by the people who serve our communities as well as the spirit of dedication and service that runs deep in the Sapien family.
Sergeant Rene Sapien dedicated 28 years to protecting the public as a decorated police officer for Baldwin Park and Irwindale Police Departments. His career was tragically altered when he contracted COVID-19 in the line of duty. His fight with this life-threatening infection required intensive and prolonged medical treatment, leaving him with permanent damage to his body systems.
GEKLAW Partner Adam Dombchik represented Rene in his injury claim and pursued a detailed medical-legal work up, including the cross examination of the evaluating physicians to force them to properly address the full impact of the infection on Rene's health and life. The case was ultimately resolved with the employer accepting liability for the infection as a work-related event, awarding Rene just compensation and granting his industrial disability retirement pension.
As we celebrate this season of giving, we are reminded of how important it is to honor those who devote their lives to the safety and well-being of others. We invite you to enjoy these exquisite works of art and consider supporting Serpentine Designs for unique, handcrafted treasures made with care and purpose. From all of us at GEKLAW, happy holidays to you and yours!
