Medical Mileage Reimbursement Rate Increases in 2022

As of January 1, 2022, the reimbursement rate for medical mileage for workplace injuries—such as transportation to and from a treating physician, the pharmacy and physical therapy—will increase to 58.5 cents a mile, according to the California Workers' Compensation Institute. This new rate is an increase over the 56 cents per mile paid for medical travel in 2021.

California's Workers' Compensation medical mileage rate is tied to the Internal Revenue Service's published mileage rate, which is based on a yearly study of the fixed and variable costs of operating a vehicle.
