Medical Mileage Reimbursement Rate Decreases in 2021
As of January 1, 2021, the reimbursement rate for medical mileage--such as transportation to and from a treating physician, physical therapy and the pharmacy--has decreased to 56 cents per mile, regardless of the date of injury.
California's Workers' Compensation medical mileage rate is tied to the Internal Revenue Service's (IRS) published mileage rate. The IRS bases the standard mileage rate on an annual study of the fixed and variable costs of operating an automobile.
Once you receive a mileage reimbursement form from your insurance carrier, complete it accurately and submit it to your adjustor every 30 to 60 days, making note of the date. Keep a copy for your records. You can always find the form on our website by clicking here.
