Workers' Compensation Documents Now Available in Six Languages

In terms of its population, California is considered a minority-majority state, a true melting pot of ethnicities, cultures and, therefore, languages.  Unfortunately, however, many of the documents used by the state’s various governmental entities don’t reflect the true makeup of California.

However, in the world of Workers’ Compensation law, that is changing. With the passing of Assembly Bill 438, authored by Assemblyman David Chiu (D-San Francisco), Workers’ Compensation information must be made available in the following four languages (in addition to the already existing English and Spanish) by January 2018:

  • Chinese
  • Korean
  • Tagalog
  • Vietnamese

This information includes Fact Sheets covering such topics as:

  • Temporary and Permanent Disability Benefits
  • Qualified and Agreed Medical Evaluators
  • Utilization Review
  • Uninsured Employers Benefit Trust Fund

Workers’ Compensation Claim Forms (the document injured workers file with their employers) are also now available in the four languages, in addition to English and Spanish.
