Vote No on Proposition 32

“People have hearts, they have kids, they get jobs, they get sick, they cry, they dance. They live, they love, and they die. And that matters. That matters because we don’t run this country for corporations, we run it for people.”

Elizabeth Warren may have delivered these words at the recent Democratic National Convention, but the concept is bi-partisan. It’s not about red states or blue states, it’s about America—We the People.

Unfortunately, that ideal has been lost in the era of mega-corporations owned and run by billionaires with agendas that don’t include All the People, just some of them. And nowhere is this more evident than in Proposition 32.

Many of those who support Proposition 32 refer to it as “The Stop Special Interest Money Now Act”  because it prohibits direct contributions to California candidates by corporations and labor unions. It also prohibits payroll deductions from union members and corporate employees for political funds.
What the supporters don’t tell you, however, is that there are loopholes (exemptions) in Proposition 32 that enable Super Political Action Committees (PACs), corporate front groups…a.k.a. the wealthy One Percent…  to support their candidates or defeat their enemies.

In other words, Proposition 32 is a wolf dressed in sheep’s clothing. If passed, it would eliminate the voices of the working man and woman, leaving the rich and well-connected with unlimited power to control our futures. Theirs would be the only voice in Sacramento.

We can’t let that happen. We at Gordon, Edelstein, Krepack, Grant, Felton & Goldstein, LLP stand behind our union brothers and sisters in opposing Proposition 32, and we ask that you make your voice heard in the ballot box on November 6.

In the coming weeks, we will be reaching out to you again with more information about Proposition  32 as well as other propositions that will affect you, your family and your friends.  In the meantime, you can visit our Facebook page for updates and links.
