"Gordon, Edelstein is one of the most professional firms that I have dealt with. They have done a lot to educate our members about the laws pertaining to both workplace and personal injuries. When one of our members has been injured, the firm's professionals have clearly explained the options. In all of their dealings with us, they have been responsive, courteous and honest."
GORDON, EDELSTEIN ATTORNEYS PARTICIPATE IN COMPREHENSIVE WORKERS' COMPENSATION CONFERENCE
Monterey - Gordon, Edelstein's workers' compensation attorneys both attended and headlined the June, 2008 California Applicant Attorneys Association Conference in Monterey, California. The conference, held from June 26, 2008 to June 29, 2008, featured expert panels on various areas of workers' compensation law. Each of Gordon, Edelstein's workers' compensation partners and associate attorneys attended the convention to stay up to date on cutting edge trends in workers' compensation law. Gordon, Edelstein was aptly represented by two of its partners: Convention Chair Adam Dombchik and AMA Guides Panelist Sherry Grant.
Dombchik hosted the educational program, which ranged in subject matter from Proving Diminished Future Earning Capacity, New Case Law Update to The Constitutional Rights Mandated for Injured Workers. As though his efforts in organizing the convention were not enough, Dombchik also co-moderated a panel on EAMS (Electronic Adjudication Management System) implementation. The panel provided valuable insight regarding the impending transition into the California Department of Industrial Relations' paperless era.
Grant's presentation was received, both in her Panel discussion as well as in her handout, "Pearls of the AMA Guides." Grant authored a scholarly text written for injured workers' attorneys pointing out the most useful and often overlooked portions of the Guides that help injured workers' obtain increased disability awards. Grant's text helped to demonstrate how to make "lemonade out of lemons" using the present unjust Permanent Disability system under the AMA Guides.
