Aetna Rectifies Error in Letters Sent to Californians

If you’re an Aetna customer and recently received a letter stating that your doctor is no longer in the insurer’s network, don’t panic. You are one of more than 8,000 Aetna customers in California who were sent the letter in error, according to Anjie Coplin, director of communications for the Hartford, Conn.-based health insurance company.

According to Coplin, the problem has been rectified, and retraction letters are being sent.  Physicians are also being sent retractions of termination notices, and Aetna has corrected its provider database. No gap in physician participation will result from the error, according to the California Medical Association.

If you have any questions or concerns, contact Aetna Member Services at the phone number listed on your Aetna Member ID card.
